Create Your Own Website for Free with NoteTab Light
Building Your First Page
You can create your own website for free using NoteTab Light and upload it to free web space at 000WebHost.
Before you start the process of building your first page, realize this: You are going to make mistakes! This is a normal part of the learning process. We all learned this way. Accept it and learn.
You should have already set up your Primary browser. If not do so now. Browser Setup
Above the 2 editor frames are file names. If you haven't read these documents read them now. Clicking on one of the filenames will place the text for that document in the right editor frame.
After you have read all of the documents, right click on one of the filenames and choose Close All.
This will leave you with an empty right frame and a filename over the left frame called NoName01.html.
Under the 2 editor windows, click the button HTML.
This will place your HTML tags in the left frame.
Double Click ! New Web Page
When the Template Wizard opens:
For Document Type: Choose HTML4 Strict
Fill in the information in the Title, Description and Keyword boxes as shown.
Enter your Name and email address.
Leave Character Set as Default Encoding.
Click OK
This will open the frame shown below named Body.
For now:
Click OK
The filename on the top of the editor changes to Page001.htm and is marked with a red tag indicating that the page needs to be saved.
Click File
Click Save
In the Save As dialogue box change page001.htm to firstpage.html
Click Save (Save As dialogue box)
To view the document, Click the symbol on the top toolbar.
A page similar to the one shown below should open in your primary browser. If it doesn't you haven't supplied the correct path to your browser. Go back and redo the Browser Setup.
If you are looking at a page like the one to the left you've successfully created your first web page using the NoteTab Light website builder.
As you experiment and make changes to your page you'll learn different methods of performing the same operation.
To get back to the editor, just close the browser.
For your first lesson in editing the document find the line of code shown below:
<P>... Type content here!</P>
Replace the words ... Type content here! with a sentence about why you are learning to build web pages. Don't disturb the paragraph tags. <p> </p>
Click File
Click Save
Click the Browser Icon on the toolbar.
If your page appears with changes, congrats, you followed directions.
If your changes don't appear on the page Click the Refresh or Reload button on your browser.
